Speakers Bureau: Jeff La Marca, Ph.D.

Dr. Jeffry P. La Marca is a distinguished scholar and educator with a Ph.D. in Education (Special Education) from the University of California, Riverside. His groundbreaking research in the field of special education has been published in several peer-reviewed journals spanning from neuroscience to psychology. He has presented on a wide range of topics at national and international conferences for the past 30 years.

One of Dr. La Marca’s significant contributions to the field of genealogy is his book, “Simple Citations for Genealogical Sources.” This work is a comprehensive guide that simplifies the process of citing genealogical sources. It’s designed to assist everyone, from professionals to beginners, in accurately documenting their family histories. By providing clear instructions and examples, it helps ensure that genealogical research is reliable, verifiable, and can be shared with confidence.

Dr. La Marca’s pursuits in uncovering his family history began in the 1970s. His lineage is a vibrant tapestry that includes ancestors who served during the American Revolution and other wars, farmers, coal miners, wealthy land owners, and more than just a few with notorious backgrounds! Despite his colorful heritage, his genealogical pursuits have led to being knighted on two separate occasions.

In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Dr. La Marca is active with the Sons of the American Revolution, serving as the President of the Washingtonburg Chapter, PASSAR, as well as the Jockey Hollow Chapter in New Jersey. This role underscores his commitment to leadership and community involvement.
